8th Annual Croissants Bakery 4th of July Cupcake Eating Contest

Thursday, July 4, 2019 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Marina Park at Grande Dunes

Myrtle Beach is a cupcake town!

Let them eat hot dogs in Coney Island. Myrtle Beach is a cupcake town—at least on the 4th of July. The Croissants Bistro & Bakery is once again hosting its popular cupcake eating contest, complete with a $500 cash grand prize and a championship trophy. What does it take to win? Eat more cupcakes than any of the other 49 contestants in five minutes. Last year’s winner polished off 36 cupcakes, while contestants combined to eat more than 1,000 in all!

If you have the stomach for it, and you’re 18 or older, you can register online. Your $20 entry fee includes a t-shirt and, of course, lots of cupcakes. The event is free for spectators, and food trucks will be on hand with plenty of non-cupcake food choices. Be sure to bring the kids for face painting, cupcake decorating and carnival games.

10th Annual Salute from the Shore Flyover

Thursday, July 4, 2019 1:00 p.m.

Celebrate America’s independence

Celebrate America’s independence and all of those who’ve made it possible during Salute from the Shore. This unique South Carolina tradition includes flyovers across the state’s beaches from vintage military aircraft and F-16s representing South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing.

Patriots of all ages dressed in red, white and blue garb pack the Myrtle Beach coastline to cheer and salute the aircraft as they pass. You’ll find gigantic flags and homemade banners paying tribute to loved ones in the service.
